This is one of my “go-to” spots to bring visitors. Caesar’s Head allows for little walking to get to breathtaking views of the Upstate. The drive from the Greenville area is approximately one hour. For those interested in a hike, there is a four-mile round trip trail called Raven Cliff Falls with a suspension bridge. Make sure you have your camera strapped to your body!
As a person that enjoys nature but is not the most avid hiker, I appreciated Table Rock. They have five trails to accommodate hikers of different levels. Keep in mind, the greater the intensity of the hike, the more amazing the views. Be sure to bring water and pack snacks. You can also come prepared to be there for the day for swimming and BBQ.
Lake Jocassee, Devil's Fork State Park
161 Holcombe Cir, Salem, SC 29676
My husband took me to Lake Jocassee on my last birthday. We went kayaking on a beautiful sunny fall day and loved it. We returned a few months later to take a personal retreat at one of their cabins. Then we came back a month later with friends. It is officially one of our favorite places! This state park is a great place to slow down and enjoy life. There is also much to do if you like outdoor recreations. In addition to boating, swimming and fishing, you can also go scuba diving.
This one is on my Places to Visit list! It is an outdoor chapel open to the public with the exception of on site camp events. It can also be reserved for private events, like weddings, which usually takes place on the weekends. You’ll need to call ahead of time for their schedule to make sure you are not crashing someone’s special event.
(Remember: Be sure to visit their respective websites for hours of operation and cost of admission.)
